On Monday, March 5, 2018, Anthony B. Gioffre III, Partner and Chair of the Land Use, Zoning & Development Group at Cuddy & Feder LLP presented with Christopher Gomez, Director of Planning for the City of White Plains to a class of advanced land use law students at Pace University School of Law on Transit Oriented Developments. The presentation covered the changing demographics in the U.S. and the growing numbers of “renters by choice” that are drawn to apartment communities based on location, low financial risk, and access to new amenities and technologies. Statistics identify fastest growing households are young professionals, empty nesters, single parents, couples without children, and senior citizens. This change in demographics is causing a high demand for multi-family housing and a strong desire to live in more urban environments that provide alternative modes of transportation, and have close proximity to jobs, entertainment and each other.
