Managing Partner Christopher B. Fisher was quoted in Westchester Magazine in a story reporting on the launch of the Y-Zone project, which will bring free and affordable internet to hundreds of Yonkers households.
“Not even one year ago, the Y-Zone was something that we had just started to conceptualize as part of a National Science Foundation/US Ignite grant proposal by the WCA and its partners,” Chris said on behalf of the Westchester County Association (WCA), which partnered with the City of Yonkers, STEM Alliance, Yonkers Partners in Education, Fordham University, and Westhab to bring about the project. “Leading with our new partners to develop the Y-Zone and build a sustainable community-based solution is truly ground-breaking.”
The WCA was one of seven cohorts to have been selected by US Ignite, a national non-profit accelerating the smart city movement, to participate in Project OVERCOME, which was designed to expedite the delivery of broadband services to underserved communities across the United States.
